The founder of Rhode Island receives tribute at the Roger Williams National Memorial, a scenic urban park with a visitors center. The Memorial is located in the heart of Providence, across from the State House. Visitors can stroll the grounds or view a film about the life of Williams, a pioneer in religious liberation who founded Providence in 1636 as a place where people of all faiths could worship freely.
